To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Italian brand Blumarine, the publishing house Rizzoli has just published “Blumarine: Anna Molinari”. To the book that tells the story of the designer Anna Molinari, echoes the special project “Blumarine Stories” which has planned the realisation of six movies, matching the six chapters of the volume. But before diving into the backstage of these short-movies, let’s go back to the main stages of the Italian company.

1977: Anna Molinari, from Carpi, in the Emilia Romagna region, decides to quit Molly, the family company that produced luxury knitwear for the most renowned designers, in order to create her own brand with her husband Gianpaolo Tarabini Castellani. The name Blumarine is born in the famous seaside resort of Forte dei Marmi. Anna is the creative soul while her husband is the CEO.

The nickname of The queen of roses comes very soon for Anna, who made this flower the emblem of the philosophy of the brand. “Symbol of the feminine beauty, of the grace and the energy concentrated in a marvellous and unique entity” explains. At the end of the Eighties, after the collaboration with Moschino, other lines are born: from Blugirl, the second line dedicated to a younger public, to Home, ending with the underwear, the accessories and the fragrances. The Blumarine fashion is, according to the designer’s words, “seduction, femininity, romanticism. With a touch of irony”. Qualities that you can find in her creations, delicate in pastel colours, and that you can identify with the rose, properly chosen as the emblem of the brand.

It’s with a story dedicated to the “Roses” that opens up the movies string “Blumarine Stories”, above mentioned. Shot in the Ajuda Botanical Garden of Lisbon by the director Manon Gicquel, this first short-movie features the Portuguese model Sara Sampaio, already muse of the advertising campaign Spring Summer 17, having a walk in the garden. The second movie, “Romanticism”, still starring Sara Sampaio, is currently in the making.
